Social Factors in Modern Literature

Modem literature in most countries deals with real social factors. For example, many contemporary novels of Africa, India and Bangladesh. depict the lives of ordinary people struggling against adversity. Further, poetry from South and North America speaks out against social and economic oppression. Furthermore, modern European drama enacts the fate of the workingman in his drab, confrontation with life. Besides, short stories of Bangladesh and West Bengal show the prejudices and deep-rooted ideas that often act as curses in the society. Hence, modern literature is a conspicuous reflection of a great number of social issues.
